Giving Opportunities

The Bible teaches us that everything, from the highest heavens, to Earth, and everything on Earth, belongs to God. The Bible also teaches us that everything we have is a gift from God. We are to manage these gifts wisely and for God’s glory.
To give graciously and generously toward others is a reflection of God’s generosity toward us, and is a spiritual response to God’s generosity toward us.
The following are some of the ways you can thank God for his generosity in your life when you support Batavia First United Methodist Church. When you click on “Donate Now”, you will be taken to our convenient and secure giving platform where you simply enter your bank card or credit card number and the amount you wish to give.
We thank you in advance for your very thoughtful gift.
The Ministry Action Plan
You might think of this fund as the church budget. Contributions to this fund are used for day-to-day operating expenses such as utilities, staff salaries, and various supplies, but it’s also a plan for the ministry that we want to accomplish each year. Contributions to this plan help us “pay the bills”, accomplish ministry and be good stewards of our resources.
Shared Ministries
The United Methodist Church is connectional. We believe that we can do more together than we can do apart. Also known as apportioned giving and ministry shares, “Shared Ministries” is what we at Batavia First call the funds we send on to the Upper NY Conference of the United Methodist Church to be used by the greater United Methodist Church for local, regional and global ministry and mission that we could do alone.
Capital Reserve
We give thanks for the beautiful building with which God has blessed us. We strive to be good stewards of the church building and surrounding property by taking good care of it. The Capital Reserve Fund has been established to provide earmarked funds for major repairs and new equipment.
Memorial Fund
The Batavia First UMC Memorial Fund is a fund designated to receive financial gifts in honor of or in remembrance of a person. Memorial Fund gifts are used to support the church’s needs and to purchase special items that will be a lasting tribute to the individual being memorialized. Gifts made to the Memorial Fund are typically given in remembrance of someone at the time of their death, but gifts can also be made to honor living individuals – for example at the time of a birthday or anniversary.
